Among this season’s class of rookie wide receivers, Tajae Sharpe of the Tennessee Titans was not projected to be among the top performers at the end of the year. But after an impressive rookie debut last week, Sharpe’s name is now at least in consideration for NFL’s top offensive rookie in 2016.
Against the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday, Sharpe caught seven passes for 76 yards on 11 targets. The 6’2” receiver out of UMass had the most targets by far of any Titans player last week.
Fantasy Impact: For his second career NFL regular season game, Sharpe gets to matchup with a Detroit Lions defense that allowed 237 yards to the Indianapolis Colts wide receivers last Sunday.
Since he performed very well against a tough Minnesota Vikings defense a week ago, it is not hard to understand why some think that Sharpe is in for a big day in Detroit. Plus the game will be played indoors, a similar setting to when Tennessee quarterback Marcus Mariota threw for 371 yards and four touchdowns against the New Orleans Saints last season.
Yahoo! only projects Sharpe to finish his day against the Lions with five catches for 57 yards, but fantasy owners should still strongly consider inserting him into their lineups this weekend.
