Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 2: Ameer Abdullah may hit a titan-sized wall on Sunday

Detroit’s talented running back will face a Tennessee defense that continues to be impressive against opposing rushing attacks. We explore the fantasy implications.

Detroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah had an impressive showing in his 2016 debut as he helped his team get a win over the Indianapolis Colts on the NFL’s opening weekend. During last Sunday’s game, Abdullah finished with 120 total yards and one touchdown on 17 touches against the Colts.

The young running back is currently splitting snaps with Theo Riddick in the Lions’ offense and that strategy seemed to work well for the team last weekend.

Fantasy Impact: Abdullah and Detroit will be facing off against a much tougher defense than they saw a week ago when they welcome the Tennessee Titans to town on Sunday. Many would consider Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson to be one of the top backs in the entire NFL and the Titans defense held Peterson to a measly 31 yards rushing in Week 1.

Fantasy owners expecting Abdullah to have another solid performance this weekend should prepare themselves for a potential letdown. Tennessee’s defense has recently done well against opposing running backs and Yahoo! agrees as they only project Abdullah to gain 74 total yards on 16 touches this Sunday against the Titans.
