Tampa Bay Buccaneers third-year wide receiver Mike Evans played an integral part in the team defeating the Atlanta Falcons 31-24 last Sunday. Evans finished the game with an impressive five catches for 99 yards and one touchdown on seven targets.
The team’s leading pass catcher from a year ago is trying to help this season’s Bucs squad get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2007. If that has any chance of becoming a reality, Tampa Bay will need to beat some of the best teams in the league and that begins this Sunday in Arizona when the Bucs take on the Cardinals.
Fantasy Impact: In his first-ever matchup with the Cardinals, Evans will be facing off against a defense that allowed its opposing receivers to only catch 54 percent of their targets in 2015.
In each their games against Arizona last season, top NFL wide receivers Calvin Johnson, A.J. Green, and Brandin Cooks combined to average only 6.6 points in standard leagues. However, Yahoo! projects Evans to still have a decent day against the Cardinals with five catches for 77 yards.
The one thing going for Evans is that Arizona sometimes has few games per season where their defense plays out of character and allows an opposing receiver to have a monster day. The Bucs are definitely hoping that Sunday’s game is one of those days.
