Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 2: Spencer Ware, is he a top option again this week?

After a great Week 1 performance, the Chiefs’ running back faces a matchup against a tough Houston run defense on Sunday. We explore the fantasy implications.

The Kansas City Chiefs could not have asked for a better performance from their backup running back Spencer Ware last week in their 33-27 win over the San Diego Chargers. Ware finished with 199 total yards and one touchdown on 18 touches and was a huge factor in the Chiefs’ comeback win.

Fantasy Impact: It may be a little tougher for Ware to have another good performance this week when Kansas City takes on the Houston Texans. The Texans come into Sunday with one of the best rush defenses in the NFL.

In their past 10 regular season games dating back to 2015, they have allowed only one running back (Buffalo’s LeSean McCoy) to rush for more than 65 yards. Houston’s defense has only allowed opposing running backs to rush for a total of two touchdowns during that span as well.

If Ware is going to make the kind of impact like he did against the Chargers a week ago, Kansas City is going to have to come up with some creative ways to get him the ball. Yahoo! still believes that the running back can be a good option for fantasy owners on Sunday as they project him to finish with 86 total yards and one touchdown on 17 touches.
