Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 3: Martellus Bennett a risky play vs. Texans

Martellus Bennett is coming off a monster game vs. Miami, but circumstances have made him a risky play this week vs. Houston.

With Rob Gronkowski sidelined, Martellus Bennett has been a reliable weapon in the New England Patriots’ offense.

However, Gronkowski could be on the verge of returning to the lineup, which would greatly reduce Bennett’s impact in it. In two games without Gronkowski, Bennett has caught eight passes on 11 targets for 128 yards and one score.

Most of that came last week when Bennett hauled in five passes for 114 yards and a score vs. the Miami Dolphins. Now, Bennett faces a Houston Texans defense allowing the fourth-fewest fantasy points to tight ends in 2016.

Fantasy Impact: Yahoo! actually has Gronkowski and Bennett ranked 11th and 12th at tight end respectively this week. If Gronkowski plays Thursday, Bennett should absolutely stay on the bench.

However, no Gronkowski could make Bennett a decent play this week. You have to think Jacoby Brissett will be looking at the tight end a lot against a stout Texans pass rush. Start Bennett if Gronkowski is inactive.
