Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 3: Danny Amendola should be benched vs. Texans

With big questions surrounding the Patriots’ offense, Danny Amendola is too risky to play this week vs. Houston.

Danny Amendola has quietly been an effective fantasy receiver with the New England Patriots.

Through two games, Amendola has caught seven passes on eight targets for 98 yards and two scores. However, that came with Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback, but he is doubtful to play Thursday.

That means Amendola will be catching passes from third-round rookie Jacoby Brissett. Thursday could also mark the return of Rob Gronkowski, which would lessen the number of targets Amendola gets.

Playing any Patriots pass-catcher is risky this week. Playing the guy who is the fourth or fifth option in this offense is flat-out naive.

Fantasy Impact: Yahoo! has Amendola as their 87th-ranked receiver this week. They project Amendola to catch two passes for 22 yards against the Houston Texans.

Even though the veteran receiver has been solid thus far, this is too risky of a situation to warrant starting Amendola this week. Keep him on the bench.
