The Pittsburgh Steelers are not listing Markus Wheaton on their Week 3 injury report, which means he will almost certainly play vs. the Philadelphia Eagles.
A shoulder injury kept Wheaton from playing in Pittsburgh’s first two games, but he practiced fully this week this week after getting in two full sessions in Week 2, but was limited Friday and missed last Sunday’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
With Wheaton out, Sammie Coates and Eli Rogers worked as the two receivers next to Antonio Brown, and both produced well. That will make it hard for Wheaton to come back from this injury and get all of his normal starter reps.
It is worth noting that Wheaton is in a contract year and had a good training camp, so he could still be in for a breakout season.
Fantasy Impact: Wheaton's return just makes Pittsburgh's receiver unit even more dangerous, but also harder to predict in terms of who produces week to week.
Brown will get his, and the No. 2 guy should, as well, but that second role may be a week to week ordeal between Wheaton, Rogers, and Coates.
Wheaton should be involved in the offense on Sunday, though not enough to be a good fantasy play. Keep him on your bench this week.
