When the Atlanta Falcons signed free-agent wide receiver Mohamed Sanu this past offseason, it was expected by some that he would be the perfect complement for fellow Atlanta receiver Julio Jones. Except for a 59-yard reception against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1, Sanu has only caught seven passes for 40 yards so far this season.
Definitely not what the Falcons were envisioning when they signed the receiver to a five-year contract in March.
Fantasy Impact: This Monday, Sanu and Atlanta will face off against their division rivals, the New Orleans Saints. The Saints come into Week 3 allowing over 100 yards receiving to an opposing pass catcher in their last four games, dating back to 2015.
Last Sunday, the New York Giants had three receivers gain over 85 yards versus the New Orleans defense, so the opportunities should be there for Sanu this week. Yahoo! projects the Falcons’ receiver to only have four catches for 54 yards on Monday, but it should not shock anyone if Sanu is one of the surprise, top fantasy performers this week.
