Thomas Rawls injury update: Seahawks RB to be inactive vs. 49ers [Update]

We break down the fantasy implications of Thomas Rawls being a game time decision in Week 3.

Editor’s update: Rawls and fellow running back C.J. Prosise will both be inactive, per Adam Schefter. That means big work for Christine Michael.

The Seattle Seahawks are listing running back Thomas Rawls as doubtful to face the San Francisco 49ers. Head coach Pete Carroll added Friday that Rawls’ shin injury puts his status for Sunday up in the air, according to ESPN Seattle reporter Brady Henderson.

Rawls, who is still recovering from a broken ankle suffered last season, missed most of training camp and the preseason while working his way back. He then suffered a calf injury during the Week 2 loss to the St. Louis Rams.

The Seahawks have been very cautious with his workload, but he still managed to injure his calf. This is turning into a down season for the promising back.

Fantasy Spin: There is serious doubt Rawls will play in Week 3, and even if he goes, the Seahawks will likely limit his workload. That hurts his fantasy prospects against a bad 49ers defense.

Rawls is not even ranked inside the top 30 running backs for Week 3. That is how you should view him going into this game, so do not plan on starting him. Even if he does end up playing, keep him on the bench.
