Andy Dalton was an elite fantasy quarterback in 2015, but he has failed to rekindle that magic this year.
Through three games, Dalton is the 16th-ranked quarterback in terms of fantasy points. A big reason for that is Cincinnati lost Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu in free agency this offseason, while Tyler Eifert has missed the first three games due to ankle surgery.
Losing those three has led to a big step backward for the Bengals' passing game, which has led to Dalton taking a step back as well. He no longer is a week-to-week fantasy quarterback, and now will face the Miami Dolphins on a short week.
Miami has been bad against the run this year, allowing the second-most rushing yards of any NFL team through the first three weeks. However, the Dolphins have been more effective vs. the pass, allowing the 12th-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks.
The Bengals will likely try to beat Miami on the ground with Dalton being more of a game manager, which makes him a risky fantasy play this week.
Fantasy Impact: Yahoo! has Dalton ranked as the 11th-best quarterback for Week 4. Unless you are in a deeper league, you can do better than Dalton as your starting quarterback this week. Keep him on the bench for now until he shows he can do more with this offense.
