Carolina Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin may not be on the field as much as he was during his 2014 rookie season, according to Panthers’ coach Ron Rivera on Tuesday. Benjamin is coming off a year where he missed the entire season due to a torn ACL.
Rivera added that the team would like to spread out his receiver’s playing time this year, but did not specify why.
Fantasy Impact: For 2016, Benjamin is still regarded by many fantasy owners as a top 20 NFL wide receiver. But Tuesday’s news could have them looking elsewhere for a more reliable pass catcher.
Talk of reduced snaps is never something a fantasy owner wants to hear, especially when it is dealing with a player who is only 25 years old.
Carolina may ease Benjamin back into the lineup a little slower during the early part of the season due to his knee injury. But if he starts producing at a top level once again, the Panthers are going to find it very hard to keep him off the field.
