Nathan MacKinnon is tearing up the first day of World Cup of Hockey action

The under-23 team is already making some eye-popping moves.

NHL hockey may not be in season for another month, but the first taste of World Cup of Hockey action hit TV screens on Thursday. The biggest draw for many hockey fans is the mishmash North America team, an under-23 group featuring big names such as Connor McDavid, Shayne Gostisbehere and Jack Eichel.

Team North America’s first game not only lived up to the hype of a group of speedy and talented youngsters, but also treated us to the best goal of the day courtesy of Nathan MacKinnon’s penalty shot tally.

I, for one, am excited to see the youngsters dunk on Team Canada and Team USA in the upcoming weeks.
