Mike Trout gave all the Eagles new shoes, so Carson Wentz gave him a touchdown ball

Mike Trout is one of the Eagles’ biggest fans.

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is one of baseball’s biggest stars, but he made an appearance during an NFL game Sunday. After a touchdown pass from Carson Wentz to Zach Ertz, the Philadelphia Eagles sought out Trout to give him the football from the play.

Trout is a native of Vineland, N.J., which is closer to Philadelphia than it is to MetLife Stadium — the New Jersey home of the New York Jets and New York Giants. He grew up an Eagles fan and recently won over plenty of the team’s players with a Christmas gift.

In December, Trout even went hunting with Wentz after he was introduced to the Philadelphia quarterback by Ertz.

The touchdown for Ertz gave the Eagles a 17-13 lead over the Dallas Cowboys, although the game is mostly inconsequential for both teams. The Cowboys have already clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC and the Eagles traded away their 2017 first-round pick to move up and select Wentz in the 2016 NFL Draft.
