Luke Bryan to perform national anthem at Super Bowl LI

Country music artist Luke Bryan will be the national anthem performer at Super Bowl LI in Houston, FOX announced Sunday.

Bryan, 40, is a previous winner of the Academy of Country Music Awards and Country Music Association Awards "Entertainer of the Year" award and has sold more than seven million albums.

Lady Gaga was the national anthem performer a year ago at Super Bowl 50, but will be the halftime performer in 2017. Prior to Lady Gaga, it was Idina Menzel in 2015 and Renee Fleming in 2014. Bryan will be the first male performer of the national anthem at the Super Bowl since Billy Joel a decade ago at Super Bowl XLI.
