The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without tight end Vance McDonald in Week 8. On Friday, the team ruled out McDonald for Sunday’s clash with the Detroit Lions.
Ever since Pittsburgh landed McDonald in a trade from the San Francisco 49ers in the preseason, he’s slowly supplanted Jesse James. McDonald has three catches on five targets over the last two games, while James had no targets during that span.
However, McDonald suffered a knee injury in Pittsburgh’s Week 7 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. That led to him not practicing at all this week, making it an easy call to rule him out.
Fantasy Advice: McDonald would have faced a Lions defense tied for the second-fewest receptions to tight ends allowed (21). James is now someone you could stream in leagues with thin waiver wires, but neither he nor McDonald is worth owning.
