Editor’s update: Rob Gronkowski is INACTIVE.
The New England Patriots will announce their Week 5 inactives for Thursday Night Football in just over an hour, and tight end Rob Gronkowski is expected to be inactive. ESPN’s Adam Schefter initially reported Gronkowski would be limited, but has since updated, saying Gronkowski is NOT expected to play.
Gronkowski suffered a thigh injury this week, and was not added to the injury report until Wednesday. He was listed as questionable.
Fantasy impact: If Gronkowski ends up inactive, you have to bench him. Dwayne Allen will get the start in his place. Allen had zero value prior to Gronkowski’s injury, so this increases his value slightly. That being said, you will likely find a more consistent value on your league’s waiver wire. Some tight ends with less than 50 percent Yahoo! ownership include Jesse James (Pittsburgh Steelers - 31 percent), O.J. Howard (Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 20 percent), and Zach Miller (Chicago Bears - 12 percent).
