The Denver Broncos lost a sixth consecutive game on Sunday after a 3-1 start to the season. Much of that can be attributed to the bad quarterback play across the board with Trevor Siemian and Brock Osweiler.
It inspired Rockies beat reporter Jake Shapiro to recall quarterbacks that the Rockies have drafted to play baseball, compared to John Elway drafted quarterbacks:

Todd Helton
Seth Smith
Kyle Parker

Trevor Siemian
Paxton Lynch
Chad Kelly
I don’t know about you, but it certainly seems to me that the Rockies would have a better shot at giving that Broncos defense some help as opposed to the Elway-selected list.
Let’s look at these quarterbacks.
Would you take this Colorado Rockie over Broncos QBs?
Michael Vick: Of course
Michael Vick was once the most exciting player in the NFL, a four-time Pro Bowler, and had six season with at least 589 rushing yards or more. Give me him over anybody Elway has drafted.
Russell Wilson: Duh
I mean, come on. Wilson’s got one Super Bowl under his belt, and could have two if they handed the ball off, but that’s neither here nor there. He came into Week 11 with the second-most passing yards in the NFL. Give me him, too.
Todd Helton: Why not
Todd Helton played some quarterback at Tennessee. While he didn’t get any starts, that man hit 369 career home runs. You can trust a man who hit 369 career home runs. He can’t be much worse than Brock Osweiler, Trevor Siemian, or any of the other quarterbacks Elway’s picked.
Seth Smith: Doesn’t hurt to try
Smith backed up Eli Manning at Ole Miss. It’s not like the good people in Oxford were going to let Archie’s kid get benched for him, right? That’s not to say that Smith is a better quarterback than Manning, I’m not going to jump to that wild conclusion. But clearly there’s skill there.
Kyle Parker: Can’t be worse, right?
Parker was the starting quarterback for the Clemson Tigers in 2009 and 2010. In 2009, he led them to a 9-5 record, and a 6-7 record in 2010. He was there for the early Dabo Swinney years, so he didn’t quite have the offensive arsenal that guys like Tajh Boyd and Deshaun Watson had.
Just imagine how much better the Broncos would be if they had an OK quarterback. That has to drive Broncos fans wild.
