Cam Newton and Ron Rivera found themselves at odds after Newton clamored to go for it on fourth-and-1.
After Newton completed a pass to Curtis Samuel near the first-down marker, but he was ruled short. The Panthers challenged the ruling, and it was upheld. After Rivera said the team would kick, Newton was incensed:
Rivera was seen telling Newton, “Don’t do that.”
The Panthers would end up going for it, as Newton wanted, and would get the first down. Four plays later, the Panthers were forced to settle for a field goal to make it a 20-10 game in the third quarter.
FOX cameras would later show Newton and Rivera making amends after getting fired up in the heat of the moment.
The Panthers would benefit from a win on Sunday, staying ahead of the Falcons in the NFC South race.
