Listen to SB Nation’s rookie appreciation podcast here.

We’re about 12 percent through the 2017-18 NBA season, and it’s already clear this rookie class is incredibly promising. That’s why we spent an entire podcast (or at least most of it) devoted to first-year players with our good friend Ricky O’Donnell, who has covered these players since they were teenagers.

Here’s the rundown:

  • We spend the first 10 minutes talking about the Eric Bledsoe trade to the Bucks and why Mike loves it.
  • Ben Simmons has been so much better than we expected, right? What really stands out as surprising?
  • Is it too early to declare that Danny Ainge might have been right about Markelle Fultz vs. Jayson Tatum?
  • Lonzo Ball hasn’t exactly shot the ball well to start the year. Should we be worried? Ricky isn’t, but Ben kinda is.
  • LAURI MARKKANEN, THE FINNISHER!
  • How would we re-rank the other point guards in this class, i.e. Dennis Smith Jr., De’Aaron Fox, Frank Ntilikina, Donovan Mitchell, and others?
  • We give shout outs to some of our other favorites, including OG Anunoby (Ricky’s), John Collins (Mike’s), Jordan Bell (Ben’s), and KYLE KUZMA (everyone’s).
  • Which rookie has changed our mind the most since draft day? Which non-Simmons rookie has the single best skill right now?
  • If we redrafted this year’s class and last year’s class, what would the top 10 be?

Plus, your spare questions about other guys we should be appreciating. We mentioned your favorite team’s rookie! We promise!
