Marshon Lattimore is already one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL as a rookie, and he might have gotten the better end of a no-call against Julio Jones and the Falcons.
On a third down with five yards to gain, Lattimore appears to get to Jones before the ball does, taking him to the ground before he has an opportunity to make a catch:
One of the most frustrating parts of Jones’ game is that he very rarely ever looks for a flag. While pass interference is a judgement call, this one seemed more clear than others.
That’s not to say that Jones would have gotten the first down or anything if he had the opportunity to catch the ball, but this seems like one that probably needs to be called. After all, Jones is one of the best receivers in the game. He’s supposed to get those.
The Falcons would settle for a field goal, cutting the Saints’ lead to 13-3.
