Jaguars proved once again their best offensive play is a fake punt

Stay on your toes against the Jaguars.

For the third time in 2017, the Jacksonville Jaguars ran a perfectly executed fake punt that led to a touchdown. The latest fake was a 29-yard pass play from punter Brad Nortman to tight end James O'Shaughnessy that roasted the Indianapolis Colts’ return unit in Week 13.

Jacksonville has been great defensively but just a middle of the road team on offense. The Jaguars have a top-rated rushing attack with Leonard Fournette, but entered the week No. 28 in the NFL in passing with Blake Bortles at quarterback.

So it’s not too surprising that the Jaguars are near the bottom of the league in explosive plays of 20-plus yards. Luckily for Jacksonville, fake punts have worked nicely.

First it was a direct snap to Corey Grant up 37-0 against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3 that resulted in a 59-yard gain that set up a touchdown.

Then it was another direct snap to Grant for 56 yards and a touchdown in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Stay on your toes against the Jaguars — they’re clearly not afraid of pulling out all the stops.
