The World Baseball Classic has been a lot of fun this year, in part because of the emotions that the players have displayed. Wladimir Balentien treated us to a delightful bat spin on Monday night, and it matched the excitement of the home run perfectly. It turns out that celebrating and exhorting your teammates can be a fine thing.
Most of the time.
I’ve watched it nine times, and each time it feels like one of those dreams where you can’t run even though your brain is screaming at you. RUN, JURICKSON PROFAR. RUN. OR, I DON’T KNOW, JUST WALK A LITTLE BIT FASTER.
What have we learned? No lollygagging. Specifically, no lollygagging when Yadier Molina is the catcher.
Let this be a lesson to all of you young lollygaggers out there.
