Well, hey.
This is a little like the first day of practice with the varsity squad, so bear with me. I’m interrupting the regularly scheduled blogging to announce that I’m the new Editor-in-Chief of SB Nation. What does that mean for you, dear reader? Probably not a lot, just today.
We’ll still be sports fans hanging together, like we’ve been doing. I’ve been sneaking in blog posts and leading the editorial direction on the flagship SBNation.com site for the past year, making sure that we’re offering the right mix of reporting, analysis of disrespectful plays, reminders of blown Finals leads, and cult internet heroes talking about the sports things that unite us. That ain’t changing.
Only now, I’ll be steering the editorial voice of SBNation.com, our collection of more than 300 team sites, our five combat websites (including MMAFighting.com, which was just named media source of the year at the World MMA Awards. POW.), and SB Nation’s video program. One voice, many places, getting louder every day.
The SB Nation network is where fans gather to talk about what matters most to us, and in many cases — hi, BleedingGreenNation.com — is a beloved part of our daily lives. Luckily, I’ll be working with Kevin Lockland, who’s transitioning from his role as SB Nation’s VP of Editorial Operations to our General Manager, to make sure that SB Nation as a whole is getting better, smarter, and weirder every day. We find new and original ways to appreciate sports, both as a source of stuff you have to see and as stuff you need to see anew.
Let’s do sports together.
