Aqib Talib mocking Kevin Durant for joining the Warriors is delightfully hypocritical

New, comments

The Broncos’ Aqib Talib is a Cleveland-born Cavaliers fan. Like many people — Cavs-loving and otherwise — he does not approve of Kevin Durant joining the already-historically dominant Warriors to create one of the most stacked teams ever and cruise to an NBA championship.

Again, you’ve heard that exact sentiment (give or take the “suburban kid” part) expressed by countless NBA fans before. It’s a little different coming from Aqib Talib, though. See:

In 2016, Kevin Durant got eliminated in the conference final by the team that, despite having the league’s best record, would go on to lose in the championship. In the following offseason, Durant signed with said championship-losing team, and eventually helped them win it all.

In 2013, Aqib Talib got eliminated in the conference final by the team that, despite having the league’s best record, would go on to lose in the championship. In the following offseason, Talib signed with said championship-losing team, and eventually helped them win it all.

So, I dunno, I thought that was kinda funny. Congratulations to Kevin Durant and to Aqib Talib on their success!
