De’Aaron Fox’s suit pays tribute to his mom, a breast cancer survivor

The lining of Fox’s suit had breast cancer ribbons, the perfect touch on one of the biggest days of his life.

De’Aaron Fox was drafted by the Sacramento Kings with the No. 5 overall pick on Thursday in the NBA draft, but his suit caught the eyes of many.

The lining was donned with breast cancer ribbons in honor of his mother, who is a breast cancer survivor.

Fox said in an interview with the National Basketball Player’s Association that he wanted to give back to the community. “I want to do something with breast cancer,” Fox said. “My mom, [Lorraine], had breast cancer. She’s about a 21-year survivor.”

Fox’s mother still gets up to work at Walmart at 3 a.m., which has been motivating for him. It also doesn’t seem like she’ll stop, even though her son was a top-5 draft pick.

“With her, she can talk about retiring all she wants,” Fox said. “But I feel like she’ll pick up a job just because my mom always wants to be doing something. It’s a strong possibility she’ll still work after I get drafted.”

Fox’s tribute is a great one, and his mother’s story is certainly inspiring for many.
