Drake gives raucous introduction to Mayweather-McGregor's Toronto press conference

It’s Toronto, so of course Drake showed up.

The Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor pre-fight press tour is rolling through Toronto on Wednesday. Because this is Toronto, Drake helped kick off the festivities.

“The biggest fight in the history of fighting, and of course they had to come to the greatest city in the world to do a press conference,” Drake told a crowd at the city’s Budweiser Stage. “Of course. So, whether it is Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather or whether it is the ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor, I just wanna welcome these two fighters to Toronto, a place that we live till the day that we are all gone. My name is Drake. I love each and everyone of you. Let’s get into this shit!” Drake then walked off the stage.

Before the press conference, Drake showed up in a McGregor holding room. He gave the combatant the sort of embrace that makes you wonder: Is Drake on Team Conor?

Drake is notorious for, in addition to making music, showing up at sporting events of various kinds and rooting for all sorts of teams. The guess here: Drake will ultimately back whoever wins this fight, but he looked chummy with McGregor on Wednesday. There’s also a chance we see media of a similar meeting with Mayweather.

Wednesday was the second leg of a four-city press tour in the run-up to the Aug. 26 bout. The fighters’ first joint press conference on the tour was Tuesday in Los Angeles. Still ahead are trips to New York and London on Thursday and Friday, respectively. It’s all part of a massive promotional effort being lodged by Showtime and the Mayweather and McGregor teams, well before they step into the ring together.
