Wishing someone a happy birthday is a nice gesture, but it’s always a good idea to double-check that it’s actually that person’s birthday.
The Los Angeles Chargers fell into that awkward trap Friday morning when they wished rookie wide receiver Mike Williams a happy birthday on Twitter. The only problem is that it was exactly two months before his actual birthday on Oct. 4.
Williams corrected the team with a tweet, and both the Chargers and Williams subsequently deleted the tweets. But the internet never forgets:

A herniated disc in Williams’ back may cost him his entire rookie season, and the Chargers have already ruled him out for all of training camp.
Hopefully when October rolls around, the Chargers still remember to wish their first-round pick a happy birthday. It’d also probably be for the best if they change up the message a bit. It’s the thought that counts, I guess.
