NFL playoff picks 2018: Experts agree on pretty much everything, except Falcons vs. Rams

Experts aren’t sure whether the young Rams can knock off the revenge-hungry Falcons.

The postseason is here! This is great because from here on out, the games are only going to continue to get better — at least we hope. The NFL is like candy that we consume all season, and the playoffs are just that last sugar rush before we crash into an offseason nap.

Last week was a fun one to send us into Wild Card Weekend, mostly because of the dramatics that happened with the Bills, Ravens, and Bengals. The Bills won, but they needed the Bengals to hand Joe Flacco and the Ravens a loss to knock them out of contention and send the Bills to the playoffs for the first time since 1999.

They did, and it also generated a bunch of donations toward Andy Dalton’s foundation. It was quite unexpected, considering the circumstances. I mean who could have imagined that the Bengals would have pulled that off? (Guest picker Pete Sweeney from Arrowhead Pride was the only one to do so, congrats!)

On Wild Card Weekend, the games are split between Saturday and Sunday. For Saturday’s slate, the Titans take on the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. The Titans snuck into the postseason for the first time since 2008 when Jeff Fisher — yes that Jeff Fisher — was their head coach.

The late game on Saturday night will be the Falcons traveling to Los Angeles to play Fisher’s last team, the Rams. That’s the lone game this week where there is debate with our experts. The Rams are a young team with a young coach, and while they appear to be the better team, Atlanta is bringing experience — and is undoubtedly hungry after an embarrassing Super Bowl loss last season (perhaps you heard about it).

On Sunday, we’ll have a matchup of teams we didn’t plan on seeing this postseason: the Bills and Jaguars.

Right, no, you totally read that correctly. The Bills are traveling to Jacksonville to play the Jaguars in the playoffs. The Bills will certainly be going into the game extra juiced up, and will need it against the NFL’s best defense that makes like miserable for quarterbacks.

The last game of Wild Card Weekend is an NFC South matchup between the Panthers and Saints. The Saints got the best of the Panthers in their two regular season matchups, but there’s no telling what could happen now that it’s the postseason. It could end up being the best game of the weekend if both teams are on their game.

You’re used to this by now. Our panelists can change up to two picks by Friday. The only difference this week, is we don’t have a guest picker.
