President Donald Trump will be attending the College Football Playoff National Championship in Atlanta on Monday night under heightened security, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The game between Alabama and Georgia has been talked up by the White House recently while the president continues to feud with the NFL over player protests during the national anthem. On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders congratulated the teams, saying they are “from two great states, both in the heart of Trump country.”

Kendrick Lamar will be the halftime performer at the game, but he won’t be inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium itself. Lamar has been vocal in his criticism of the president in the past.
Trump will be hosted by Georgia-native Nick Ayers, who serves as Vice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff. First lady Melania Trump is expected to make the trip to the game as well.
