NBA B-Sides: 11 perfect moments from a weekend at the NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles

This edition of B-Sides is coming to you from Los Angeles after a wonderful All-Star Weekend out on the West Coast.

All-Star Weekend is one of my favorite times of the year. Even when the Three-Point Contest is boring and when the Dunk Contest may not live up to the hype, I still enjoy every second of the action. The NBA is an entertainment business, and no league does it better. All-Star Weekend is the perfect display of that with players letting loose, hanging out together at events, and just having a good time.

While I’m so glad we got a great finish in the All-Star Game, and it really appears the new format worked for the better, All-Star Weekend is really for everything else surrounding Sunday night.

Here are my favorite moments from the weekend.

1. This photo of LeBron James and a young fan

James continued to use All-Star Weekend to speak out about social issues and not back down despite what others are saying. This photo proves how important he is.

2. Anthony Davis wore Boogie Cousins’ jersey during the All-Star Game

Prepare to get in your feels with this one. Davis is officially the best teammate in the world.

3. The Celebrity Game had a very real box score

It makes sense why they do this, given other games are played on this court. But it’s still funny to see a Property Brother went 3-of-4 from the field with three rebounds and an assist.

4. Victor Oladipo dancing at Media Day

Oladipo was made to be an All-Star. Not only is his game the best it’s ever been on the court, but his personality is coming through more than ever as well. And he can dance pretty well!

5. Taylor Swift still has more banners at Staples Center than the Clippers

Sorry, I had to.

6. Stephen Jackson’s bobsled team

I went around asking NBA All-Stars who they would put on their Olympic bobsled team, but leave it to Stephen Jackson to actually have the best answer.

7. Candace Parker was wearing a Jesus Shuttlesworth jersey

The original CP3 continues to be the best.

8. Kobe Bryant let Jalen Rose off the hook for his 81-point game

Proof that Kobe knows internet jokes and that he’s also getting soft in his old age.

“In all fairness though, you really did not guard me that game. You get a bad rap for that, but you might have defended my like twice.”

9. This photo of Kyle Lowry

Obviously the feathers are magnificent, but what is the small trophy he is holding that doesn’t quite make it in the photo? I’ll forever want to know.

10. LeBron and Kyrie legitimately laughing together

This isn’t fake laughter. This is pure joy in this moment between LeBron and Kyrie. Time and winning can heal things for everyone.

11. Klay Thompson and his dog Rocco

Klay posted this at the beginning of All-Star Weekend, which means its All-Star content. Plus, how could I leave this photo out?
