Nevada and NC State both got the Wolfpack/Wolf Pack moniker (it’s two words for Nevada) in the early 1920s, but for very different reasons. For Nevada, a local newspaper writer thought the team played with the tenacity of a pack of wolves. That’s good! For NC State, however, an anonymous alumnus thought the players were being unruly like a pack of wolves. That’s bad, but the school paper went with it anyways.
Anyways, from there these two packs grew and expanded; Wake Forest even helped officiate the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Wuf. But if you’ve got to side with one or the other, are you joining up with Nevada or NC State?
