Kentucky Derby 2018: Full finishing order

We have the full finishing order for this year’s Run for the Roses, the 144th running of the Kentucky Derby.

Horse Racing: 144th Kentucky Derby Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

The 144th running of the Kentucky Derby is over, and as usual, it was an exciting race. The o-called “Fastest Two Minutes In Sports” was just that, with Justify, the favorite, winning it all after an incredible run. Justify finished ahead of Good Magic in second and Audible, another one of the favorites, in third.

Justify also broke “Apollo’s Curse” by becoming the first horse to win the Derby while not having raced as a two-year-old. Apollo was the last horse to do it, back in 1882.

Throughout the pre-race process, Justify was the favorite among bettors and experts. There were some picking others horses — namely Mendelssohn and Audible, but as the race drew closer, My Boy Jack and Bolt d’Oro picked up pace in the betting and started to close the gap to Justify.

Along with Justify, Magnum Moon was another horse to see a lot of action in regards to the potential besting of Apollo’s Curse.

Now, we’ll be looking forward to the Preakness Stakes to determine if Justify has a shot at a Triple Crown. American Pharoah earned it in 2015, the first horse to do it in 37 years.
