This cringe-worthy Dwight Howard line about his NBA journey is making our heads hurt

New, comments

Howard’s first press conference with the Wizards, of course, had some lines for the ages.

Dwight Howard held his introductory press conference as the newest member of the Washington Wizards on Monday, and if there were anything he said that stuck with media and viewers alike, it was his comments on the previous six stops of his career.

Howard said he learned Magic in Orlando, went to La-La Land, worked with Rockets, learned to fly with some Hawks and got stung by the Hornets. Then came the money line: “And it all taught me how to be a Wizard.”

Say what you want about Howard, but he’s never been afraid to be himself, especially off the court. Remember when he held his introductory press conference with the Charlotte Hornets... as if they had just beaten the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals?

That’s just the type of person Howard is: unapologetically himself, at all times. Now, he’ll be on a team with the best backcourt he’s ever played with, and he said during his press conference that he would do what it takes to win.

Only time will tell, though, if that will lead to a more successful Wizards season than in previous years.
