Coach Mike Anderson was an assistant under Nolan Richardson when the Razorbacks made the Final Four three times and won a national title. Running a variant on Richardson's press-and-run, he has the team back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2008.
Style of Play: The Fastest 40 Minutes
It's not Richardson's "40 Minutes of Hell" -- Anderson calls it "The Fastest 40 Minutes in Basketball" -- but it's just about as close as you can get. The Razorbacks only press on about a quarter of opposing possessions, but they do try to get up shots quick -- their average possession length is just 15.6 seconds, 6th fastest in college hoops.
Key player: IMPORTIS
Bobby Portis is the dream center for an up-paced squad. A 6'11 sophomore from Little Rock projected as a first-round draft pick, Portis has the athleticism to get up and down the court and finish fast breaks, a very solid mid-range jumper, and enough strength and meanness to fend for himself against opposing bigs.
