The Jayhawks extended perhaps the most impressive streak in college basketball. The Big 12 was probably the toughest conference in college basketball this year, and Kansas won the regular season title for the 11th consecutive year. They lost the championship game to Iowa State, but, my goodness, to win any league 11 years in a row is incredible. To do it in a major conference is downright impossible.

Style of play: Self doubt

The good news is Kansas has an incredibly strong defense, the seventh-most efficient in college hoops. The bad news is this team is different from previous Kansas teams in some bad ways. Normally Kansas is airtight inside, shooting a high percentage and dominating the defensive glass. This year's team dropped 158 spots in defensive rebound rate and 223 slots in two-point field goal percentage -- and yet in spite of that, the Jayhawks have taken fewer threes than in past. Strange.

Key player: Dress for success

Perry Ellis definitely has the game of an upper-mid-level casual menswear brand: He's not a flashy superstar, but he's comfortable with his game, appropriate in many scenarios and fits the Jayhawks' needs well. The 6'8 forward is a junior on a team that doesn't play any seniors, so his importance is larger than his sound post game and mid-range jumper.

Ridiculously photogenic college basketball player
