Louisville looked to be acquitting itself just fine in its first ACC season: no bad losses, several quality wins, and an elite defense. Then the team lost point guard Chris Jones after an ugly rape accusation, removing the point guard from an already mediocre offense. They lost three of seven without him -- although they did manage to knock off No. 1 seed Virginia in the regular season finale.
Style of play: Pointless
Louisville is buoyed by a truly dominant defense, the fifth-most efficient in college basketball, chock full of athletic bigs and long wings. Whether they succeed will be in large part based on the success of Terry Rozier, a true shooting guard, filling in for Jones. The offense was already pretty mediocre, and Rozier is learning the point on the fly. The good news is: he *is* learning, looking more comfortable every game.
Key Player: Montrezl the Monster
Montrezl Harrell's game oozes aggression. Blessed with a long wingspan, great upper body strength, and ups, the 6'8 junior is explosive on offense, defense, and on the glass. That aggression sometimes boils over, though -- he punched a Western Kentucky player and threw a ball as hard as he could at a Miami player's face.
