A Q&A with Mitchell Maurer of SB Nation’s Bucks site Brew Hoop.

What needs to happen for this to be an enjoyable season for Bucks fans?

Bucks fans got a taste of the future last season, with Giannis Antetokounmpo bursting onto the national scene and Milwaukee looking like a perennial playoff participant. To truly enjoy this year, participation isn’t enough. Fans expect this team to win early and often, including in the postseason.

Highlights are great, but W’s are better. The Bucks need to prove they can provide both.

Milwaukee Bucks
Position Starters Bench
Guards Malcolm Brogdon Matthew Dellavedova Jason Terry
Wings Giannis Antetokounmpo Khris Middleton Tony Snell Jabari Parker (injured) D.J. Wilson Rashad Vaughn Gerald Green Sterling Brown
Bigs Thon Maker Greg Monroe Mirza Teletovic John Henson

What makes Bucks fans most excited about this year? What makes Bucks fans most nervous?

Giannis is exciting enough on his own. Throw in a healthy Khris Middleton, a year-wiser Thon Maker, and rightful-Rookie of the Year Malcolm Brogdon, and there’s a lot of young talent in Milwaukee.

Young talent doesn’t always pan out though, and this team’s inexperience (and propensity to give up corner threes) could catch up with them as they fight their way up the Eastern Conference ladder.

What storyline might a national audience be missing about the Bucks?

You might not know it, but Milwaukee has a potential star lurking in the shadows of the team’s practice center. Jabari Parker, most recently a 20-point NBA scorer, is rehabbing another left ACL tear, but is reportedly recovering faster than expected. Questions about his knee (and his defense) abound, but Parker provides the offensive firepower that can push the Bucks past their Eastern Conference peers.

Why should neutrals pay attention to the Bucks this year?

Have you ever wondered what it was like to be a fan of the Warriors before they became “The Warriors?” We’re at that point right now with the Milwaukee Bucks. Their future success is far from guaranteed, but once all the different puzzle pieces start coming together, the Bucks are primed to stake their claim for ownership of the Eastern Conference.

Additionally, Giannis is good for at least one physics-defying move per game.

What's your prediction for the season?

50-32, a top-four seed in the East, and knowing that they’re just getting started.
