Last season's record: 11-5

Who’s the heart and soul of your team?

The answer has to be J.J. Watt. If he wasn’t before, he’s definitely become the heart and soul of Houston, particularly with his efforts at helping the city rebuild after Hurricane Harvey two years ago. But a very, very, VERY strong honorable mention to Deshaun Watson here. He will be Highlander for the Gulf Coast soon enough.

Which player is your team’s workout hero?

Not to be boring, but it’s J.J. Watt again. He’s not of this galaxy. DeAndre Hopkins, though, is criminally underrated as a freak of nature. Some of the catches he makes, even in practice, defy physics. And finally, Will Fuller should be considered a darkhorse in this category. While he hasn’t been able to stay healthy for a whole season, the man can run.

What’s your team’s Achilles’ heel?

Offensive line. There’s really nothing else I need to say, but just to clarify: Matt Kalil — MATT KALIL — is the projected starting left tackle. The Texans selected Tytus Howard, allegedly a tackle, in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, but have proceeded to give him most of his reps at left guard. And it’s not like center, right guard, and right tackle are beacons of hope. Zach Fulton is likely solid at right guard, but after that? I don’t know. It doesn’t appear the Texans do either, and that is troubling.

Battle Red Blog prediction: 9-7 The Heart | by Tim McHale

The Texans’ 2019 schedule is simply brutal. I think they’ll find themselves a few games below .500 over the first half of the season before climbing out of the hole and either finishing a game out of the playoffs, or squeaking in as the second wild card in the AFC.

Expert prediction: Too high The Head | by Geoff Schwartz

The Texans had the easiest schedule against NFL quarterbacks last year, when they played nine backups or rookies. That’s not happening again. They have the toughest schedule against quarterbacks this season. While I love Deshaun Watson’s ability, that OL isn’t much better at the moment. The defense should still be legit, at least.
