No. 8 Syracuse vs. Wagner final score: Orange cruise to 88-57 victory

The Syracuse Orange improved to 2-0 on the season with a home victory over the Wagner Seahawks on Sunday. The Orange started slow, but pulled away for an 88-57 victory.

The No. 8 Syracuse Orange used a strong second half to run away with an 88-57 victory over the Wagner Seahawks on Sunday afternoon at the Carrier Dome.

Syracuse improves to 2-0 on the young season and extends its winning streak in the Carrier Dome to 23 straight games. The Orange have not lost to a nonconference opponent in 34 straight contests at the Carrier Dome.

Brandon Triche led all scorers with 21 points while also grabbing seven rebounds for the Orange. James Southerland contributed 15 points and three blocks in the win. Center Baye Keita was the third Syracuse player in double-digits with 15 points in addition to his five rebounds.

The Seahawks led a couple times in the first half, but only briefly and never by more than one basket. Jonathon Williams led Wager with 14 points and nine rebounds, and Kenneth Ortiz added 11 points and a team-high three assists.

After a slow start, Syracuse led, 36-23, at halftime. The Orange pulled even further away from the Seahawks in the second half, outscoring the visitors, 52-34, in the half to seal the 88-57 victory.

Syracuse returns to action on Wednesday, when they host the Princeton Tigers at 7 p.m. ET.
