The No. 25 Florida State Seminoles suffered a shocking upset in their season-opener, losing to the South Alabama Jaguars, 76-71. The Seminoles lost six players from their 2011-2012 ACC Championship-winning team, and the new guard couldn't quite get it done on Friday night.

Both FSU and South Alabama shot 42 percent, but the Jaguars were 9 of 14 on three-pointers, while FSU took 19 three-point shots and hit only four of them. Antoine Allen was out in front for the Jaguars, picking up 21 points in 23 minutes on the floor. Freddie Goldstein added 14 more, and Mychal Ammons grabbed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Michael Snaer led the Seminoles in scoring with 13 points, adding six rebounds and two assists. Terrance Shannon came up just short of a double-double when he picked up 10 points but grabbed only nine boards.

Florida State will have a chance at redemption on Monday, when they face the Buffalo Bulls. South Alabama plays next Wednesday, facing the William Carey University Crusaders.
