No. 5 Ohio State remains unbeaten, knocking off Central Connecticut State, 74-56. The Buckeyes used pressure defense to stifle the Blue Devils, forcing 20 turnovers and blocking seven shots on their way to a comfortable win.
OSU forward LaQuinton Ross scored 23 points on 9-13 shooting, his best scoring total of the season. Expected to do the brunt of the scoring for the Buckeyes this year, Ross has come alive after a disappointing start. Including today, the junior forward has averaged 20 points in his last three contests.
Center Amir Williams turned away three Blue Devil shots to go along with 11 points. Buckeyes' leading scorer Lenzelle Smith Jr. chipped in 17 points in the win.
With Michigan State losing to UNC, Ohio State has a chance to be the highest-ranked Big Ten team in the AP Poll come Monday. The Buckeyes have upcoming games against Bryant, North Dakota State and Delaware before a big game against Notre Dame Dec. 21.
