No. 1 seed Akron and No. 2 seed Ohio, co-MAC regular season champs, do not play their first games until Friday, in the semifinal round. The Zips received the top seed courtesy of their head-to-head record over the Bobcats.

Ohio was 7-0 this season against team's on their side of the bracket, while Akron was 4-2 against their possible tournament opponents.
