The Mercer Bears have won the Atlantic Sun Conference regular season title for the first time in a decade, and will be the top seed in the conference tournament starting on Wednesday, March 6. It's Mercer's first Atlantic Sun regular season title since the 2002-2003 season.
Mercer and Florida Gulf Coast both finished the regular season with 21-10 records, but Mercer was 14-4 in conference compared to Florida Gulf Coast's 13-5 record. The Bears were able to notch out-of-conference wins over bigger name teams like Florida State and Alabama, but had to scrape until the last game of the season, a win over Stetson on Saturday, to clinch the regular season title.
The winner of the past two Atlantic Sun regular season titles, Belmont, left the conference before the season to join the Ohio Valley Conference.
