College basketball rankings: Florida, Wichita State and Arizona still on top

The best three teams in the land continued with their strong seasons, but the field after that got shaken up in a major way.

The Florida Gators pushed their winning streak to 21 games with victories against Vanderbilt and LSU. The Wichita State Shockers finished off a perfect, 31-0 regular season. And the Arizona Wildcats continued to ride a new-found aggression that has them back to where they were before forward Brandon Ashley's injury.

After that similar top-3 to last week's rankings, there's a whole lot of wackiness. The pollsters just had to determine whose weekend was less bad.

Start with formerly-No. 4 Syracuse, which snuck by Maryland before getting walloped by Virginia. By beating the Orange, the Cavaliers captured the ACC regular season title and shot up the rankings from 12th to fifth in the AP poll, while dropping Syracuse to No. 7. Last week's No. 5 team, the Kansas Jayhawks, beat Oklahoma but fell to Marcus Smart and Oklahoma State this week. Louisville and Creighton also split the week to fall out of the top-10. And after 19 wins in a row and a rise to the No. 10 spot in the AP Poll, the Saint Louis Billikens hit a wall by losing to Duquesne and VCU, dropping them to 17th.

So who took advantage? Duke was idle this week but because of the losing around its sixth-place ranking moved up two spots into fourth place. Villanova jumped two spots to sixth and is followed by Syracuse, Kansas, Wisconsin and San Diego State to round out the top-10.

Texas and Ohio State fell out of the AP poll, while UConn and Oklahoma joined the top 25.

While Virginia made the most headway in the Associated Press poll, North Carolina made the biggest leap up the rankings in the USA Today poll, jumping 21st to 14th in the Coaches Poll after dropping North Carolina State and Virginia Tech.
