There's a chance three of the top players in the class of 2015 could go to the same school.
Ivan Rabb, Diamond Stone, and Malik Newman have been discussing the possibility of teaming up together to play in college, according to what Rabb told SNY.tv at Peach Jam last week in North Augusta, S.C. Rabb and Newman played on the Nike circuit, while Stone is on the Under Armour circuit. They're all from different parts of the country -- Rabb from California; Newman from Mississippi; and Stone from Wisconsin.
"Me, Diamond, and Malik, we're all planning to kind of go to school together," Rabb said. Newman and Stone are already said to be a packaged deal. Adding Rabb, the No. 1 ranked player in the class according to ESPN, to the mix would be an unprecedented move.
There has not been a timetable for when Rabb will make his decision, but a source told SB Nation that it is unlikely to come in 2014. Stone is making his decision on Nov. 12, which is the first day of signing period. Rabb is not 100 percent on it like Newman and Stone, but he is considering it.
Georgetown, USC, Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, UCLA, Cal, and Arizona are the big schools after Rabb.
Rabb and Newman may talk about their college plays in Colorado Springs for the USA U17 trials. The only schools that all three have in common are Kansas and Kentucky. Rabb told SNY.tv that he plans to visit both Kansas and Kentucky soon.
Stone is the first to commit, and that will determine if this happens, because there is a high chance that Stone stays home and goes to Wisconsin. One person close to him said that he is not thinking about that right now and is focusing on basketball. Things will start to heat up heading into August. Stone is the lead piece for this because if he does not commit to any of the schools that Newman and Rabb have in common, then it will not happen.
Continue to follow this story as the first signing period starts to come along. Newman is supposed to be cutting his list soon and Rabb has already cut his list.
