Mark Gottfried has quietly been recruiting at an extremely high level since taking over at NC State. That trend continued on Sunday as the Wolfpack got a commitment from four-star shooting guard Maverick Rowan, according to ESPN's Jeff Borzello.
Rowan was originally a Pitt commit in the class of 2016, but reopened his recruitment and openly contemplated reclassifying to play in the 2015-16 college season. After starring on the grassroots circuit this summer, Rowan decided to make his reclassification official and chose NC State over St. John's and others.
Rowan, a Florida native, is known for his shooting. He should fill the void left by Trevor Lacey in NC State's lineup.
Gottfried isn't done on the recruiting trail. NC State has been rumored to be the front runner for five-star recruits Dennis Smith and Bam Adebayo in the class of 2016. Smith, a point guard, and Adebayo, a power forward, play on the same grassroots team and are both natives of North Carolina
