NIT selection show 2016 live stream: How to watch the bracket announcement online

The NIT will make its selections after the NCAA Tournament does.

The NCAA Tournament selection show gets all the attention Sunday night, but the NIT will also host its selection show afterward at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU. You can also watch it on WatchESPN.

The NIT is a 32-team bracket, with the first three rounds being played at the home arenas of the higher-ranked teams. The semifinals and the championship game are held at Madison Square Garden in New York.

NIT teams are selected by the same resume criteria as NCAA teams -- good wins, bad losses, non-conference strength of schedule and RPI. They also must be over .500. Automatic NIT bids are given to regular season conference champions that don't win their conference tournaments and don't receive NCAA Tournament at-large bids.

That group looks like it will be pretty big this year. Wagner, Hofstra, Bucknell, Belmont, UAB, IPFW, High Point and North Florida will all be in the NIT. Wichita State, Saint Mary's, Valparaiso and Monmouth will also be added if they are not selected for the NCAA Tournament. That leaves few spots for at-large teams.
