The first phase of the NCAA Tournament rolls on Wednesday night with the final two games of the First Four in Dayton, Ohio. The winners will join the field of 64 for first-round games this weekend.
On Wednesday, Holy Cross plays Southern to determine who gets to move on to face No. 1 seed Oregon in a West Region game in Spokane, Wash., on Friday. Both Holy Cross and Southern are No. 16 seeds, so the First Four is an opportunity for each of them to play in the national spotlight and have a real chance to win before, more than likely, falling without much of a fight against Oregon.
The other game features Tulsa playing against Michigan. This one's interesting, as the winner will move on to play a winnable game against No. 6 Notre Dame on Friday in the East Region. Tulsa is the last at-large team in the field, and a lot of people don't think the Golden Hurricane belongs. This is their chance to prove those people wrong, but John Beilein and Michigan will probably be a tough out.
Here's the schedule. All times are Eastern:
Holy Cross vs. Southern, 6:40 p.m., truTV
Tulsa vs. Michigan, shortly after 9 p.m., truTV
The broadcast team for both games will be Carter Blackburn, Mike Gminski and Jaime Maggio.
