In the East region, No. 5 Indiana will take on No. 12 Chattanooga, a game that some think could provide us the well-worn 12-5 upset that seems to happen every year.
Chattanooga is in the field after winning the Southern Conference tournament. The Mocs picked up non-conference wins over Georgia, Dayton and Illinois, and certainly have the ability to push the Hoosiers. They finished the season 29-5, and have only lost two games since mid-January. They have a pair of all-conference players in Tre' McLean and Justin Tuoyo, both of whom averaged more than 11 points and five rebounds per game this season.
The team has really come together under first year head coach Matt McCall. The older members of the team have now played for three head coaches in four years, and the fact that they look as cohesive as they do is a testament to them.
Conventional wisdom seems to think the Mocs will have problems with Indiana's length and athleticism. The Hoosiers have considerably more talent, and will try to leverage that advantage to pull away from Chattanooga. Yogi Ferrell, who led Indiana in scoring with 17 points per game and also averaged five assists per game, is the biggest name to know for Indiana. Aside from athleticism, the Hoosiers are also efficient, coming in ninth in the nation in two point shooting percentage and fifth from three point range.
