Kansas and Oklahoma played two of the more memorable games of the 2015-16 regular season, with the Jayhawks prevailing in both instances.
First, there was the 109-106 triple overtime thriller in Lawrence, which is widely regarded as one of the best college basketball games in recent memory. Revenge escaped Oklahoma a month later when they were dealt a 76-72 loss by Kansas on their home floor in another highly competitive game.
The world was nearly treated to a third game between the two powerhouses, but potential national Player of the Year Buddy Hield's apparent halfcourt game-winner against West Virginia in the Big 12 Tournament semifinals left his hand a tenth of a second too late.
There's still time, however, for Kansas-Oklahoma III to go down. With the Jayhawks one win over Villanova away from joining the Sooners in Houston for a clash in the Final Four, Hield admitted that he was rooting for another shot at his conference rival.
Buddy Hield: "I want Kansas to win."— Sam Vecenie (@Sam_Vecenie) March 27, 2016
This wasn't the first time that Hield has been open about his desire to see Kansas again.
I spoke to Buddy Hield after OU lost to WVU in the Big 12 Tournament. Said he was disappointed not to get another shot at KU this year [1/2]— Scott Chasen (@SChasenKU) March 27, 2016
He was obviously downtrodden from the game, but said this: "Hopefully, we get a drawing in the NCAA tournament against them." [2/2]— Scott Chasen (@SChasenKU) March 27, 2016
We wouldn't hate it either, Buddy.
